Guys, how do you log the load in cable machines? Do you divide by 2 in machines with a single pulley? Or do you just write down the original stack weight? If it's the latter, you do realize that you're not tracking the actual load correctly, right?

amgym19 Actually, I think you are mistaken, as there are different types of cable machines. Some do have a 2:1 stack ratio as you have indicated, but 1:1 ratios are also common. So at least at my gym, the number on the stack is the actual weight.

However, if I was working with a setup with a 2:1 ratio, I'd probably just record the whatever the stack weight showed. For me, the point of logging the weight is just to keep records of my own progression.

pah68 I record the weight on the stack. I don't really care what the actual weight is. if I'm forced to use a new version of an old machine, I will create it as a custom exercise if the weight lifted is different.

pseb I log stack weight. Have to use brain Power already to calculate lbs/kgs as I have machines that use both. Maybe I’m just lazy. 😜
